Weekly Devotion

Heaven's Brighter Then Earth
"...I saw a light from heaven, brighter than the sun, shinning around me and those who journeyed with me." - Acts 26:13
What does a real conversion to Jesus Christ look like? How do we know if a person's profession of faith is legit? In Acts 26, Saul recounts his conversion experience while he was on the road to Damascus. In his description of what happened he tells us the first step to any real conversion when he says that the light shining from heaven was "brighter" than the light on earth! If a person really comes to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ then they must have this same experience! They must have the light of heaven out shine the "light" of their dark existence. As John said, Jesus is the "light of men, and light shines in the darkness and the darkness did not overpower it (John 1:4-5)." What a person knows, what they believe and how they feel must be over powered by the radiance of Jesus Christ! Only then will a person's worldly "light" be exposed for what it really is, pure darkness!
